Boston Gear utilizes advanced technologies to design and manufacture thousands of open gearing products including helical gears, spur gears and racks, worms and worm gears, and miter and bevel gears at our world-class facility in Charlotte, NC. Standard Boston spur gear configurations include spur, rack, pinion wire, stem pinions and internal gears; most with a selection of bores, keyways and set screws.
All Boston helical gears are made with a 45° helix angle and cut to the Transverse Diametral Pitch System, resulting in a higher Normal Diametral Pitch Number. Both right- and left-hand helical gears are stocked.
Boston straight tooth miter and bevel gears are cut with a generated tooth form having a localized lengthwise tooth bearings known as the Coniflex® tooth form.
Boston Gear worms and worm gears provide the smoothest and quietest form of gearing. Steel worms and cast iron or bronze worm gears, with throated teeth, are available in single or multiple threads. Acetal worms and worm gears are also available.
24-Hour Shipment of Modified Stock Gearing
Most Boston stock gears can be quickly modified to meet individual customer specifications and ship within 24 hours. Available modifications include:
- Face width reduced keyway(s) added
- Tapped holes added (for set screws)
- Hub projection reduced bore enlarged
- Hub diameter reduced
- Keyways and bores in common metric sizes
